Natural and Alternative Neck Pain Treatment

What is Neck Pain?

Neck pain is an umbrella term for stiffness, aches, or inflammation in the muscles, bones, or ligaments of the neck. Unfortunately, the number of people who require medical attention for neck pain is on the rise. In the United States, approximately 50 percent of the general population will experience chronic neck pain at some point in their lifetime. The sharp uptick in the prevalence of chronic neck pain isn’t surprising when you consider how much time the average person spends hunched over their computer screen and/or mobile phone.

Preventing Neck Pain

If you want to avoid developing neck pain later in life, you’ll need to start building healthy habits as soon as possible. The first step you can take is to minimize the amount of time you spend in front of a screen. If using a computer is a requirement for your work or studies, it might be worth investing in an ergonomic office setup. You can also reduce pressure on the muscles in your neck and upper back by practicing good seated and standing posture. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you should consider consulting with an upper cervical chiropractor to actively identify and combat misalignment in your upper spine.

How The Upper Cervical Spine Affects Neck Pain

As a field, upper cervical chiropractic care focuses on correcting misalignments in the seven cervical vertebrae that form the neck. In the vast majority of cases, misalignment in the cervical vertebrae is caused by either direct trauma or long-term imbalances in gait, posture, or working conditions. If the cervical vertebrae settle into a misalignment, it can lead to a build-up of pressure on the spinal cord and neck muscles. Without treatment, this pressure will often manifest as chronic neck pain and stiffness.

How Our Natural Neck Pain Treatment Works

Fortunately, upper cervical chiropractic care is specifically designed to identify and correct alignment abnormalities in the upper spine and neck. We are focused on removing interferences to normal body function to get to the root cause of the pain and stiffness in the neck. We do not just treat the symptoms or the signs. Our goal is to allow the body to heal from the underlying cause of what is causing the neck pain and neck stiffness. In turn, this also helps heal other related health problems.

In order to pinpoint the exact location of the abnormalities that are causing the neck pain, we will conduct a number of objective tests to determine where the root of the problem is. If a misalignment is detected, we take a Cone Beam Cat Scan (CBCT), which is less invasive than a X-Ray, to determine the precise angle and direction of the misaligned vertebra.

Once the affected region is located, we will perform a series of gentle adjustments to the misaligned vertebrae. These adjustments will not only alleviate pressure on the brainstem and spinal cord, they’ll also reset the mending pathways for strained muscle groups in the neck and upper back. This will allow the body to heal and will ease the pain and stiffness in the neck.

We provide neck pain treatment for patients in the Las Vegas and surrounding areas. This includes all of Clark County and neighboring states such as Utah, Arizona and California.
