Natural Sciatica Treatment
What is Sciatica?
Chronic lower back pain not only prevents you from completing basic tasks, it also makes it harder to enjoy the activities you love. Sciatica neuralgia, more commonly known as sciatica, is a particularly painful condition that causes an aching and/or burning sensation in the lower back, buttocks, and legs. Occasionally, sciatic pain can resolve itself without professional intervention. However, if you suffer from chronic or recurring sciatica pain, you should consult with an upper cervical chiropractor.
What Causes Sciatica?
In the vast majority of cases, sciatic pain is caused by one of three conditions. In the first case, a bulging lower back disc can put pressure on your spinal nerves, leading to the development of sciatic pain. In the second case, the piriformis, a muscle in the gluteal region that connects the upper leg bone with the sacrum, may become spastic and begin pinching the sciatic nerve. In the third case, a person may suffer from spinal stenosis, a condition which causes bone spurs to grow into the upper cervical spinal nerve outlet. These growths inflame the spinal nerve which, in turn, triggers sciatic pain.
How the Upper Cervical Spine Affects Sciatica
Poor posture, car accidents, old sporting injuries, or even a difficult pregnancy can all contribute to misalignment in your upper cervical spine. Without treatment, misalignment in the spine can cause irregular tightness in your back muscles, bulging spinal discs, and lopsided hip movement. Any combination of these imbalances will put enormous pressure on your sciatic nerve, resulting in ongoing sciatic pain. Even though the pain is felt in the lower back, Sciatica is often caused by an imbalance in the upper cervical spine.
How Our Natural Sciatica Treatment Method Works
Instead of masking the symptoms of sciatica with pain medication, we get to the root cause of your sciatic pain. Our goal is to allow the body to heal from the underlying cause of sciatica and any related health problems. Our care focuses on assessing and correcting misalignments in the neck and upper spine that may be causing sciatic pain.
When you go in for an initial assessment, we will conduct several objective tests in order to identify potential spinal cord irritation in the upper cervical spine. If a problem is identified, we take a Cone Beam Cat Scan (CBCT), which is less invasive than a X-Ray, to determine the precise angle and direction of the misaligned vertebra which are causing the sciatica. We will pinpoint the exact location of your misalignment and determine the best option for spinal correction.
Don’t worry, you won’t experience any painful cracking, popping, or pulling of the neck during an upper cervical spinal realignment. We will deliver a precise and gentle correction to restore the neck and spine to its normal position so that any interference can be removed and recovery from sciatica can begin.
We provide sciatica treatment for patients in the Las Vegas and surrounding areas. This includes all of Clark County and neighboring states such as Utah, Arizona and California.
